DAY 1
Zanzibar – Saadani National Park
Your adventure begins with an early morning transfer to the ferry terminal for the 7:00 AM fast boat departure from Zanzibar. Enjoy a scenic 90-minute crossing across the Indian Ocean before arriving on the mainland at Saadani National Park.
Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to Bab’s Camp, where you’ll receive a warm welcome drink and have time to relax. From the camp’s elevated viewing tower, take in panoramic views across the surrounding bush, where wildlife is often visible even before your safari begins.
Later in the morning, head to the Wami River for an exciting boat safari. Cruise along the river in search of hippos, crocodiles, elephants visiting the riverbanks, and an abundance of birdlife while learning about the unique ecosystem that makes Saadani so special.
After the river safari, continue with an afternoon 4×4 game drive through the national park. Your experienced guide will track wildlife across the diverse landscapes, offering opportunities to encounter giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelope, lions, and many other species before returning to camp at sunset.
Following dinner, embark on one of the highlights of the trip—a night vigil and thermal-scope safari. Using specialised thermal imaging equipment, you’ll venture into the bush in search of nocturnal wildlife, including predators that become active after dark, alongside elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, civets, genets, bush babies, and other fascinating night-time species.
